The TIFF Industry Conference took place in September 2014 as part of the Toronto International Film Festival.

SOVTELEXPORT, the overseas distributor of Russia Television and Radio’s content, presented its catalogue of Russian film projects in Toronto, featuring the following titles:

• "The Iron Ivan" – a biopic about the sporting career of the legendary 20th-century Russian wrestler Ivan Poddubny.
• "The Spy" – an adventure detective film based on Boris Akunin’s book The Spy Novel.
• "Kandahar" – an action film based on real events.

The long-awaited historical TV series, Ekaterina, was also presented at TIFF. Its plot is centred on the incredible story of the young Prussian princess Sophia Fredericka, destined to be crowned the Russian empress Ekaterina Velikaya.
Buyers showed particular interest in "The Iron Ivan". Hulu, an American Internet platform, expressed interest in that film and the possible transfer of rights for VOD (video on demand). This is not the first time Hulu distributors have shown interest in Russia Television and Radio’s content. The feature film The Spy", acquired in 2012, has topped viewing charts and still remains one of the leaders in the Russian Films category. The series "Demons" and "Peter the Great: Testament" are in high demand on Hulu, as are documentaries.
