On November 7th 1990, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev stands atop the Mausoleum in Moscows Red Square. An endless line of workers floats like a river through the square, cheering the man who gave them their long awaited democracy and freedom of speech. Walking with the crowd, a simple worker -- Alexander Shmonov -- holds a double barrel shotgun under his coat. In this documentary, the unsuccessful assassin tells the story of his attempt on Gorbachevs life.
