Alena Belkova is a young, talented surgeon working alongside her future husband at a prestigious clinic in St. Petersburg. Her life is set - a family and career ahead. But her homeland, the North, keeps calling her. A medical mission in the Arctic suddenly changes everything. Alena flies into the tundra to save the life of a dying man and for the first time feels shes right where she belongs. Yet there's something else: she learns of strange circumstances of her mothers death, who disappeared in the snows twenty years ago.
