A historical drama produced by Russia Television and Radio has been recognized with an award at the 19th annual Shanghai Television Festival.

The Shanghai Television Festival (STVF), first held in 1986, is now one of the world’s major television festivals. More than 1,000 TV productions from 40 countries took part in this year’s festival.

"Life and Fate", a historical drama from Russia Television and Radio was nominated for the prestigious Magnolia Award in the TV Film/Miniseries category. This large-scale screen adaptation of Vasily Grossman’s novel of the same name, with screenplay by Eduard Volodarsky, is dedicated to the seventieth anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad.

At the closing ceremony on 14 June, one of the festival’s three main prizes for Best Screenplay was presented to the film’s director Sergey Ursuliak.
