THE CATHEDRAL
The recently constructed divine Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, at the Sretensky Monastery in the centre of Moscow was consecrated by His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia, in February 2017, a few days before the centenary of the tragic Revolution of 1917. It was built near the infamous Lubyanka Street, wherethousands of New Russian Martyrs and Confessors suffered for the Faithduringthe Soviet rule. The new Cathedral which now dominates the skyline of the historic part of Moscow was constructed in the traditional Russo-Byzantine stylewith the use of the most advanced modern technology.
This documentary features the main inspirer of the project, who at that time was the Hegumen of the Sretensky Monastery, Archbishop Tikhon Shevkunov, architects, designers, engineers, painters, iconographers, mosaic tilers and 3,000 other mastercraftsmen who made this incredible project a reality.
