TELMA LAUNCHES FIRST RUSSIAN TELENOVELA IN MACEDONIA

National commercial net Telma will become the first channel to air a Russian telenovela in Macedonia. The channel has just announced the launch of "The Institute for Noble Maidens". The series which was originally produced for "Rossiya 1" will air daily from 20.00, starting November 7.
The series is set in 1877 during the Russian-Turkish war. Sofya, Miriam, Varya, Tata, Katya and Asya - students of the Institute for Noble Maidens - live in one dormitory. Being sophisticated and romantic, they dream about pure love, but way to happiness is always thorny. Sofya doesn’t know that she is illegitimate child of a rich prince and his only inheritress. A certain count Vorontsov arrives from General Headquarters of the Russian army to Moscow. He accompanies a young Turkish lady Miriam, whose life he saved from inevitable death. Miriam becomes a student of Institute for Noble Maidens. Sofya Gorchakova, an inquisitive and brave girl, doesn’t like the Turkish girl first, but then feels sympathy for her and they become friends. Having found a faithful companion, Sofya hopelessly falls in love with count Vorontsov. But prince Khovanskiy interferes with their happiness.
The telenovela produced by TTO Novella aired on Rossiya 1 between October 2010 and October 2011. The series has a total of 260x60 episodes distributed by Sovteleexport, the distribution arm of VGTRK.
